Yesterday, the Pawnee County Commission approved a Public Health Order that adopted a Risk Assessment Matrix. The commission approved 4 levels of risk—Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. USD 495 will utilize this matrix along with guidance from the Kansas State Department of Education in determining which tier within our board approved Return-to School Plan will be implemented within our school buildings. On August 17, 2020 the Pawnee County Health Officer based on COVID Risk Assessment Matrix, placed Pawnee County at the Yellow Level. Based on the Pawnee County Health Officer risk determination of Yellow, USD 495 will begin school on August 20th, in Tier Yellow- Minimal/Moderate Spread. School Buildings will be open for in person school, USD 495 will implement more intensive mitigation strategies; encourage/enhance social distancing. This will require all students, staff, and visitors to wear a face mask/ covering that covers their mouth and nose within all school buildings/facilities.  Families will be receiving an email detailing the face covering requirement in our schools.
