USD 495 is excited to welcome Garrett Burns to the classroom this fall! He’ll be teaching social studies at Larned Middle School and officially kicking off his first year in education.
Garrett recently graduated from Sterling College and completed his student teaching at Hutchinson Trinity Catholic, where he worked with students in grades 7 through 11 and helped coach middle school track.
Originally from Plevna, Kansas, Garrett comes from a family that knows the value of hard work. His sister is a fellow educator, and his brother is a farmer, so teaching and agriculture are both familiar territory.
He’s looking forward to being part of a new community and is especially excited about the unique history that surrounds the Larned area.
When he’s not at school, Garrett likes spending time with family and says he probably couldn’t make it through the day without coffee.
Be sure to give him a warm Larned welcome when school starts!
