Kim Cardoza

We’re excited to share that Kim Cardoza is the new Mixed Abilities teacher at Larned Elementary School!

Kim spent last year as a one-on-one para at LES and says she loved every minute of it. Before coming to Larned, she taught in special education classrooms for more than 20 years, supporting students with a wide range of learning needs. She earned her master’s degree in Special Education from Chapman College.

She didn’t start college until her youngest daughter started kindergarten. Kim often tells her students that she grew up roaming with the dinosaurs. Believe it or not, some of them buy it!

Kim calls Dodge City home, even though she only lived there during junior high and high school. In her free time, she enjoys paper crafting and makes handmade cards for family birthdays and special occasions.

Her pride & joy is her family. She has 5 daughters, 11 grandchildren, 3 bonus grandkids, and 2 grand-dogs. She also says she couldn’t live without her 2 dogs, Bruno-Floyd and Lucy.

When we asked Kim what she’s most excited about as she continues her journey in the district, she said: “The kids in the Ft. Larned district are absolutely amazing, best group of kids ever. The staff is wonderful and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better this year.”

Join us in thanking Kim for stepping back into a teaching role. With her heart for students and years of experience, we’re lucky to have her at LES!
