Help us welcome Cynthia Martin to Larned Elementary! She’ll be stepping into a special education teaching role and brings more than 20 years of experience working with students.
Cynthia started her career as a para, then filled in as a long-term sub before becoming a certified teacher. She earned her master’s degree from Wichita State in 2023 and is excited to start this new chapter with USD 495.
She grew up in Louisiana and moved to Kansas when she was 17. While she doesn’t have a strong accent, she admits there are still a few words that give her trouble. She and her family now live in McCracken.
Cynthia has three grown kids, including two boys and a girl, and five grandchildren who keep her on her toes. When she has free time, she enjoys starting craft projects, even if they don’t always get finished. She also has quite the animal crew at home, including three dogs, two turtles, a bearded dragon, and a very feisty love bird.
She shared that she’s a little nervous but mostly excited to meet new people, connect with students, and keep learning. We’re so glad she’s joining the LES team. Be sure to say hi when you see her!
