Carly Blackard

USD 495 is excited to welcome a new member to our educational team!

Originally from Lakewood, Colorado, she brings five years of teaching experience to Larned. She spent her first two years teaching second grade before transitioning to Low Incidence Special Education, a field she quickly discovered was her true passion. All of her teaching experience has been in Hays, Kansas.

She earned both her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Special Education and her Master's Degree in Reading from Fort Hays State University.

Recently relocated to Kinsley, she is excited to begin this new chapter in her career. Family remains an important part of her life, and she enjoys traveling back to Colorado to spend time with her parents, siblings, and two nieces. She is also recently engaged and looking forward to the future.

Outside of school, she enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and crafting. A fun fact about her is that she is a huge Dolly Parton fan!

As she joins USD 495, she is most excited about meeting new students and families and becoming part of the Larned community. She looks forward to learning more about the district and building meaningful connections with those she serves.

Please join us in welcoming her to USD 495!
