USD 495 is excited to welcome a new school counselor to the Larned community!
Originally from Whitney, Texas, she grew up enjoying life in a small town near Lake Whitney, where summers were often spent fishing in the mornings and helping haul hay in the afternoons. After graduating from Whitney High School, she earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Tarleton State University before moving to Kansas to pursue her Master's Degree in School Counseling and a graduate certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from Wichita State University.
Her professional journey began as a Registered Behavior Technician, supporting students with autism and other developmental disabilities. She also gained valuable counseling experience through internships in Stafford and Valley Center before serving as an elementary school counselor in Topeka. Now, she is excited to return to her small-town roots and become part of the Larned community.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Thomas, whom she recently married in June. Together, they enjoy hunting, fishing, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with their two dogs, Bo and Duke. She also has a passion for wildlife and portrait photography and loves capturing memories from her travels and adventures.
One interesting fact about her is that she was adopted from Russia. Students may also want to know that orange is her favorite color—although K-State purple is a close second!
She is most excited about supporting students in their social-emotional growth, helping them navigate challenges, and encouraging them to pursue their passions and goals.
