USD 495 is excited to welcome a seasoned educator and leader to our team this school year.
With 23 years of experience in education, she brings a wealth of knowledge from a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, instructional coach, and principal. A graduate of Spearville High School, she earned her degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University before returning home to begin her teaching career. She spent 14 years teaching in Spearville while also coaching middle school volleyball, high school softball, and cheerleading.
Throughout her career, she has continued to expand her expertise, earning an ESOL endorsement from Newman University, a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology, and a Building Leadership endorsement from Fort Hays State University. She later served as an instructional coach in Dodge City for three years before becoming principal at Kinsley-Offerle for four years. After returning to the classroom for a year in Hodgeman County, she is excited to step back into an administrative role in Larned.
Family is an important part of her life. She is the oldest of three sisters and enjoys spending time supporting her nieces and nephews in their many activities. At home, she is joined by her two dogs, Rocky, a pit bull, and Remy, a Shih Tzu.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, watching movies, and playing the piano. Music has long been a passion, and she has taught piano lessons for more than 20 years while also serving as a church pianist.
As she joins USD 495, she looks forward to serving in a leadership role that combines her passion for education, organization, and teamwork. Most importantly, she hopes to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and educators while helping continue the tradition of excellence in the district.
