It’s National School Counseling Week! Our school counselors do so much for our students—offering support, guidance, and a listening ear when it’s needed most. They help kids through challenges, celebrate their successes, and make a difference every single day. Take a moment this week to thank a school counselor—they deserve it! 🧡🖤 #larnedpride

Join us in celebrating Joseph Wilder, this month’s JAG-K Student of the Month at LHS! Joseph’s teachers and coaches had nothing but great things to say about his work ethic, leadership, and positive attitude.
💬 “Joseph is one of the most likable kids I’ve ever been around. He has a keen sense of humor and gives his best effort toward his school work and the athletic teams he is a part of. Long story short, he is very deserving of JAG student of the month.” – Mr. Keith
💬 “Joseph worked really hard in Chemistry to really learn the information we were talking about, not just to get work done. I also get to see Joseph in wrestling, where he works hard and is a positive contributor to our team.” – Mrs. Fitzpatrick
💬 “Joseph is an awesome kid! He is fun to have in class, and I enjoyed being one of his football coaches. He is so easygoing and gets along with everyone. Joseph seems to never have a bad day.” – Mr. Apley
💬 “Joe is the quiet leader. He leads by example, and the younger kids will follow. He’s the one kid you can count on to get his job done. Joe exemplifies hard work and determination.” – Coach Johnson

🎉 It’s School Board Appreciation Month! 🎉
To wrap up our series, we’re excited to introduce our final board member—Mike Myrick! Mike just completed his first year serving on the USD 495 Board of Education. We hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know the dedicated individuals who help guide our district!
When we asked Mike, "What’s one thing about our district that makes you especially proud?" here’s what he shared:
💬 "I’m so proud of the dedication our teachers and staff show to preparing students for the future.
Our district focuses on programs like JAG, which teach resume building, interview skills, and career readiness. Industrial skills classes, including building, electrical, and welding, give students hands-on experience. We also offer college credit opportunities to help students get ahead, and our CDL program allows graduates to earn their CDL license before leaving high school.
As a parent of three Larned graduates, I couldn’t be more proud of how ready they were for their next steps in life."
A huge thank you to Mike and all of our Board of Education members for their leadership and dedication to our schools! 🧡🖤 #larnedpride #bettertogether #ThankBOE

High school biology students got hands-on with passive cellular transport! Using dialysis tubing to act like a cell membrane, they tested how osmosis and diffusion work by tracking the movement of molecules. With chemical indicators for starch and glucose, they discovered which molecules could pass through and which were too big to diffuse.
Science is always better when you can see it in action! #larnedpride #learningisfun
Happy Birthday, Kansas! 🥳
