LES Tribes met this morning to start working on their "kindness rocks" this morning! All week, we celebrated kindness week and this was the cherry on top. The students will finish their rocks the next time their tribe meets, and then they will put them all around town! #randomactsofkindness A big shout out to Eakin Enterprises for donating all of the rocks!! #kindnessrocks #lesfamily #bettertogether

Alex and Julie from the Larned Chamber of Commerce were joined by Chamber board members, Dr. Mike Burdett, Katherine Roth and Landon Erway, as the Chamber hosted Hi5 Friday this morning. It might have been our coldest morning yet but that didn't stop the warm greetings. Thanks so much for sharing your time with LES!
If your business or club would like to host a Hi5 Friday, please contact Tina Gladow at LES:620-285-2141 or tina.gladow@usd495.com.

There will be no school for USD 495 tomorrow, February 16th due to the predicted winter weather by the National Weather Service, specifically the winter storm advisory in effect for our school district. We are expecting moderate snow in our area with high winds that will cause blowing snow and difficult travel conditions. All activity practices are cancelled for tomorrow. The 3rd/4th grade Music Program will be rescheduled for a later date. Student safety is always our top priority and we appreciate your support.
Fourth graders were challenged to decorate a Valentine's box. Here were the top 3 from each class. All of the kids made some really creative boxes. Thank you families for helping put these together.

This guy earned himself a good news call home! Way to go! #goodnewscallhome

Today we are celebrating our School Resource Officers! SRO's are trained law enforcement officers, but they provide so much more to our students. Marc Perez and Nicholas Delaney (our backup SRO) have a unique assignment, as they serve as added security, but they also educate on law and provide the students another trusted person they can talk to. Our School Resource Officers are an invaluable asset to our district. Thank you! #larnedpride #bettertogether

Mrs. DeMond tells us that late last night she threw out her lesson plans for today. She said it was wearing on her heart that her students wanted to do something special for Valentines Day so she completely started from scratch and made a game show to go along with what they're learning in class. We simply have the best teachers! Way to go, Mrs. DeMond! #larnedpride

Thank you Dillons for showing our staff some love today. We appreciate the roses every year! It's the little things.
