The Lady Indians ran into a pretty good Beloit team and come up just a little short tonight.
I would like to nominate Ted VanHorn to be a recipient of the Orange Spot Award. Recently, while subbing in the Wood shop, Ted spent time building Shawn's confidence on how to safely use a cordless drill.
Initially, Shawn learned how to install and remove the battery pack. Later, Ted worked with Shawn on how to operate the drill. Shawn can now use the drill, independently, with supervision.
Thank you, Mr. VanHorn, for your encouragement to Shawn, and for instructing him!

Our JAG-K students had a couple fun trips in February!!
They attended a career fair at Barton Community College where they explored different career paths through tours, hands-on lessons, and activities led by campus staff. It was a fun and educational experience that gave the students a realistic look at careers they were interested in and what college life at Barton might be like!
Then later in the month, traveled to Topeka for a visit to the Capitol. They met with Representative Brett Fairchild, and spoke with other leaders, explored the building’s history and watched live Senate and House sessions. It was an educational and unforgettable experience!

The 2026 KMEA State Band is an audition-only group of 109 students from 75 class 1-4A schools throughout the state. One of our very own, David Colglazier played with the band. David is wearing a medal he received for being a 3 year member of the KMEA State Band. Way to go, David! 🎺🏅

The LHS Girls pick up the Sub-State Quarterfinal win tonight over Scott City. They will play next on Wednesday, March 4 at Beloit. It will be a 6pm tip off. Make plans now to make the trip north to Beloit.
4A State Wrestling Update: After Day 1, all 5 LHS Wrestlers are still alive in the State Tournament. Each one of them went 1-1 today, and they will wrestle again on Saturday and try to work their way back through the Consolation bracket.

Mrs. Gladow recently launched a Book Buddy program pairing our 5th graders with 1st/2nd grade students. Nothing melts our hearts more than seeing our older students step up as leaders and our younger ones grow as eager readers.
