🎉 It’s School Board Appreciation Month! 🎉
If you don’t know her already, meet Jessie Pleasant! Jessie has been serving on the USD 495 Board of Education for 8 years and was just elected as the 2025 BOE President this past Monday. 👏
When we asked Jessie, “What inspires you to serve on the Board of Education, and what do you find most rewarding about the role?” here’s what she shared:
💬 "What inspires me to serve on the board? I enjoy taking an active role in my community and have a strong interest in education. What do I find most rewarding? Visiting the schools and seeing the kids in their environment is definitely the highlight. One of my favorite moments is listening to the elementary school’s Pledge of Allegiance."
Thank you, Jessie, for your dedication and leadership in shaping the future of our schools! 🧡🖤 #larnedpride #bettertogether #ThankBOE

We’re proud to recognize Savarah Hook as our JAG Student of the Month! Savarah’s hard work, positive attitude, and care for her peers make her a standout in every way. Here’s what her teachers had to say:
💬 "Savarah is an awesome kid to be around. She works hard and brings a positive attitude to class each day. What I admire most about Savarah is the way she looks out for her peers." – Mr. Keith
💬 "What I appreciate about Savarah is that she is very genuine in her conversation. She will stand up for something she believes in, yet she can still be open to another point of view. She will question something that doesn't make sense to her and wants to understand so she can form a fact-based opinion." – Mr. Lyman
Way to go, Savarah! #larnedpride
