We are excited to announce our first District Staff Member of the Month for the 2023-24 school year! The award presented tonight at the BOE meeting was selected by an outside voting panel, but nominations are submitted by students and fellow staff members. The recipient for the month of August is Chris Scheideman!
Chris is a helpful and supportive English teacher who is always available to offer assistance. He prioritizes the understanding of the material and values feedback from his students to enhance their learning experience. Chris goes above and beyond for his students, pushing them to exceed their own expectations and is dedicated to the teaching profession as well as USD 495. Chris genuinely cares about his students’ education and he ensures that everyone feels heard and included in the learning environment. We are truly fortunate to have a teacher like Chris at Larned High School.
Congratulations, Mr. Scheideman! #larnedpride #besttribeever

Each month, students and fellow staff members at Larned High School submit a nomination for the Rockstar Teacher award. We love to recognize these teachers and highlight their achievements. The August Rockstar is Mr. Scheideman for setting the stage for success: This teacher is somebody who has taught you something that is extremely important for a future endeavor, whether that be ensuring you are prepared for an important assignment/test/project or is teaching you something substantial that will be useful even after graduation! One nomination said this, “Chris is a great English teacher. He always wants the best for his students and pushes them beyond their expectations. He is a professional and is dedicated to #495. He is always willing to help another teacher or staff member as well.” Congratulations, Mr. Scheideman! #larnedpride #besttribeever

How lucky are you we to have our own superheroes?! Each month, we would like to recognize a staff member from Larned Elementary School and highlight their achievements! Nominations are open to be submitted by students and fellow staff members at LES to select one certified staff member and one classified staff member as their Superhero Staff Member of the Month! Our winners for August are Miss Piper (classified) for going to infinity & beyond! Or, as most of us usually say, this staff member goes above and beyond his/her job description and is always willing to help others. She has switched roles this year to Library Aide and has done a wonderful job. Admin have gotten several compliments from parents saying their child came home sharing about things they learned in library. She is a team player and willing to help wherever it is needed. Mrs. Fleske (certified) shows kindness that is stronger than kryptonite! This staff member shows compassion to not only the students but also to other staff members as well. Mrs. Fleske is a go-getter. You can hear her laugh from across the building which always brings a smile to your face. She has built strong connections with her students and they love being in her class. Congratulations, ladies! Thank you for everything you do for USD 495! #lesfamily #larnedpride
