JAG took a trip out to Ward Feed Yard today! They were able to see several different operations and learn how they all work together to allow the business to run smoothly. You may see a familiar face - Brian Carlton, a member of our BOE was leading the tour. Thanks for having us! #larnedpride #bettertogether

We honor all school nurses making a difference in the lives of children today #SND2023 and every day! #Schoolnurses lead the way to support health and ensure that students are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Thank you for all you do Cindi & Amie! #larnedpride

We held a poster contest to celebrate our favorite lunch ladies last week and the winning class got to have a cupcake class party! Congratulations to Maizie in Mrs. Spain's 2nd grade class for having her poster picked as the winner by the lunch ladies themselves! Maizie wrote them a thank you note and shared cupcakes too. #lesfamily #larnedpride

LMS Stuco election speeches were held this morning in the gym. It takes a lot of courage to stand and speak in front of your peers, and we are proud of all of you! #larnedpride

Wow! Mrs. Foster's kindergarten class has been learning how to make and count tally marks. They've used these tallies to keep track of how many days they have had perfect attendance with a goal of 50 days for the second semester. TODAY is their 50th day of perfect attendance. Amazing! #lesfamily #larnedpride

5th grade families, don't forget to join us tomorrow to decorate yard signs. We will provide the signs and paint - you can bring any extras you may want. These signs will be placed in the grass along the side of the drop off line as we recognize our 5th graders who are moving up to middle school next year. #lesfamily #larnedpride

We're having so much fun this week celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! There is still plenty of time to send a teacher or staff member an E-card. Visit https://www.usd495.com/page/share-the-love and follow the directions. We'll handle the rest! All staff members email addresses are their first name, a period, last name, @495.com. Mrs. Colglazier's 5th grade band students demonstrated their instruments to the 4th graders today! We are excited to have another group of talented musicians next year! #lesfamily #larnedpride

LES will be taking their LES Family photo on Wednesday, May 10th. Please send your kiddo in their orange LES T-shirt or orange shirt. If your student is new and has not gotten a shirt yet, please let the office know. Thank you! #lesfamily #larnedpride

If you listened to the Downtown Larned Podcast, you know there's a particular business in Larned that our students LOVE to go get slushes! A big thanks to Chad and Shabree Eakin, and Michelle Seeman for bringing coupons for free slushes for our 4th graders! They were ecstatic! #larnedpride #bettertogether #lesfamily

Thank you, Mr. Erway & SRO Perez for having an honest and heartfelt conversation with our high school students about the dangers of tobacco use and how harmful vapes are. The health and safety of our students is our number one priority. #larnedpride

Last night at the Board meeting, we were also able to recognize these LHS students for qualifying for State Music with their solos and ensembles. We are so proud of them and all of their hard work and accomplishments! #larnedpride

We have just completed another round of announcing the staff members of the month at each school facility. The outside voting panel that helps us select our District staff member of the month is Sharon Lessard with the Foundation for Education, William Nusser, the Mayor of Larned, and Alex Filbert, the Chamber of Commerce director. We are excited to announce that the district staff member of the month award for April goes to Mrs. Kristen Pontius! LHS is voting for their Rockstar teacher and Mrs. Pontius was nominated for always being “In Tune”, a teacher who is mindful of your mental and physical health, and makes it obvious that they truly care. Congratulations, Kristen! #larnedpride
A HUGE thank you goes to Country Seasons Flower Shoppe for their generous donation of a flower bouquet for our District winners, and to Koch's Kustoms for their donation of the Larned cups for each building winner. #bettertogether

A big shout-out to these brave kindergarten students for leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the Board meeting last night! #lesfamily #larnedpride

Each month, we would like to recognize a staff member from Larned Middle School and highlight their achievements! Nominations are open to be submitted by students and fellow staff members at LMS to select one staff member to be named their All-Star of the month! This morning, Mrs. Wagner was named the All-Star Staff Member for April! She was awarded because of her kindness and willingness to help. One of her nominations said "She always notices me." Congratulations, Mrs. Wagner! Thank you for everything you do for USD 495! #larnedpride

Just a reminder: If you adopted a senior, please drop your gift off in the LHS office by Friday! #larnedpride
