Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Forbes is bringing agriculture into her classroom, one
lesson at a time, using resources from the Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. KFAC'S goal is to help Kansas students, their teachers, and their families,
come to a better understanding of our state’s agricultural heritage and how agriculture shapes their world today. The kindergartners put a soybean seed, a wheat seed, and three absorbent water beads into a ziplock baggie, then closed it up and will wear it like a necklace inside their shirt (to simulate the warm, dark ground). They made their necklaces this morning and will be wearing them (or putting them in a dark drawer when we're not here), waiting for them to germinate. So interesting and a fun learning opportunity! #lesfamily #larnedpride

NCCER stands for the National Center for Construction Education and Research. They set and maintain the global standard in construction training and certification. Mr. Hewson awarded 43 LHS students with their Core cards today. These cards can be presented to future employers, who can then check the NCCER database for credentials and training of the cardholder. This course is a dual credit through Barton Community College, therefore students who are interested in pursuing construction, plumbing, or a similar career path have already started chipping away at their post-secondary education while attending LHS. We want to give a big shout out to Brad Starnes with Build Up Kansas as well as Matt Mazouch with Barton Community College for coming to speak with our students and helping present them with their cards today. We also appreciate the Larned Community Center for allowing us to take over their facility for this presentation! #larnedpride #bettertogether #NCCER
