Wednesday was a productive day for Larned Middle School students during Community Service Day! A big shout-out to our LMS staff and the USD 495 Transportation Department for organizing this meaningful event and ensuring everything ran smoothly. It was all about giving back to our community who supports us throughout the school year!
From Fort Larned National Historic Site to the Pawnee County Humane Society, our 6th - 8th graders made a positive impact in various locations around Larned and Pawnee Rock. They also helped out the City of Larned crew and took care of tasks for USD 495 such as washing school buses, cleaning gym bleachers, and assisting with general school maintenance. Everyone's efforts truly made a difference! Way to go LMS! #larnedpride #bettertogether

Do your best, be your best! We are so proud of our elementary students who have earned the title of Student of the Month! 🌟 #larnedpride #lesfamily #earnedit

Good news calls home! #goodnewscallhome

Introducing the JAG-K student of the month: Michael Graf!
"Michael is a great kid. While he's a great student and participates in class, he's always up for fun! I'll never forget the time in accounting, when everyone had had enough learning for the day and I looked over to find Michael with tape dispenser glasses. He definitely knows how to make others laugh! I sure will miss him next year." -Mrs. Stahlecker
"Over the past two years, Micheal has become a leader amongst his peers. In class, his work is consistent and always showing improvement. He is a true asset to Larned High School." -Mr. Scheideman
"Michael Graf has been an awesome student all year. He is a leader in the weight room, on the field, and at powerlifting meets. It has been a joy teaching and coaching Michael! I am sad that I only had the opportunity to teach and coach him for one year." -Mr. Westerman
"Good guy. Hard worker. Always has a positive attitude." -Mr. LeRoy

Governor Laura Kelly has officially declared May 5 as Kansas Kids Fitness Day (KKFD)! Here at Fort Larned Elementary, we're proud to participate in this initiative. Today, our 3rd graders welcomed students from Great Bend (Holy Family), Ellinwood and Otis-Bison grade schools, and Ellinwood (St. Joseph) at Fort Larned National Historic Site for KKFD. 💪 They had so much fun rotating through the different stations and activities, which were run by 7th and 8th-grade students from LMS - thank you! We'd also like to give a shoutout to all of those who worked so hard to make this happen, and to Slade and Grayson for keeping us on time by playing the drums and trumpet to notify groups to rotate stations! 🥁🎺

Join us in celebrating our hardworking nutrition professionals at USD 495! Today, on May 3, we honor School Lunch Hero Day, recognizing the dedication of those who ensure our students receive nutritious meals every day. From navigating food allergies to serving with a smile, our team goes above and beyond.
School Lunch Hero Day, established in 2013 by The School Nutrition Association and "Lunch Lady" author Jarrett Krosoczka, is a special day to express gratitude to those who feed nearly 30 million students across America daily.
Our school nutrition professionals are true heroes, balancing multiple roles and adhering to strict nutrition standards to provide safe and healthy meals. On average, Roberta, Shannon, Jan, Lori, Stephanie, and Tamarra serve 520 meals to students daily, and they also manage the fresh fruit and vegetable program for our elementary students.
They play a vital role in fueling our students for success. Visit www.schoollunchheroday.com to learn more about this celebration. For details about our nutrition program at USD 495, visit https://www.usd495.com/page/nutrition-services. #larnedpride
