Join the LHS band in playing at the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 11th at 11:00 am! We're inviting all community players to join in playing the armed services medley. No need for marching, as we'll be riding on a flatbed. The band is excited to honor our Veterans and have a blast making music with our community! For any questions or to request a copy of the music, feel free to reach out to Mr. Lyman at the high school via email: craig.lyman@usd495.com. #larnedpride #besttribeever #bettertogether

Yesterday was a big day filled with Halloween fun across the district! The Trunk or Treat event, sponsored by LES PTO, had an incredible turnout. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our amazing community for their continued support and engagement with our students. We're super grateful for our partnership with you all! 🍬🍭 The rest of the day was packed with pumpkin-themed activities, from cheerleaders painting and carving pumpkins to the LES library hosting a pumpkin coloring contest. Mr. Gladow's 5th graders had a blast with spooky stories around their classroom campfire. Our classrooms transformed into Halloween party central, and our staff got in on the costume action too! 🎉👻 Thanks again to all who made it an unforgettable Halloween throughout USD 495! 🕷🎃

As we transition into the basketball 2023-2024 season, there are some key changes coming to the game we all love. Here's what you need to know: 🏀 No more 1-1 free throws 🏀 The bonus will always be 2 shots 🏀 Bonus begins at 5 team fouls 🏀 Team fouls will reset each quarter 🏀 The scoreboard will show a max of 5 fouls per quarter This rule change comes from NFHS for safety reasons and is designed to enhance the flow of the game. Learn more about this change at https://www.nfhs.org/articles/free-throw-procedures-and-foul-administration-amended-in-2023-24-high-school-basketball-rules-changes/?fbclid=IwAR01sCwc6d6exnmtGECnSQorG12UK8pfTQqF3dOVTJoD2n5kk4eo41xGOO0 Please be patient with our officials and scoreboard operators as they adapt to these updates. #larnedpride

Mrs. Fairchild's 1st graders turned into book bakers today! Wearing aprons and baker caps, they explored a selection of fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, and biography books. Each student picked their favorite of each genre, drew a picture on a cupcake-shaped paper, and placed it in their bakery box. Of course, for an extra treat, they enjoyed real cupcakes after lunch! What a fun way to learn about different genres! 📚🧁 #larnedpride #lesfamily #learningisfun
