How lucky are you we to have our own superheroes?! Each month, we would like to recognize a staff member from Larned Elementary School and highlight their achievements! Nominations are open to be submitted by students and fellow staff members at LES to select one certified staff member and one classified staff member as their Superhero Staff Member of the Month! Our winners for August are Miss Piper (classified) for going to infinity & beyond! Or, as most of us usually say, this staff member goes above and beyond his/her job description and is always willing to help others. She has switched roles this year to Library Aide and has done a wonderful job. Admin have gotten several compliments from parents saying their child came home sharing about things they learned in library. She is a team player and willing to help wherever it is needed. Mrs. Fleske (certified) shows kindness that is stronger than kryptonite! This staff member shows compassion to not only the students but also to other staff members as well. Mrs. Fleske is a go-getter. You can hear her laugh from across the building which always brings a smile to your face. She has built strong connections with her students and they love being in her class. Congratulations, ladies! Thank you for everything you do for USD 495! #lesfamily #larnedpride

It's National Substitute Appreciation Week! We are incredibly fortunate to have a team of dedicated substitutes who show up faithfully to keep our schools running and our students learning! Today, at Larned Elementary School, we had the pleasure of running into a couple of amazing substitutes, Judy Damm, Cindy Huff, and Karen Hadley. They truly lend a helping hand day in and day out. If you know or see a USD 495 substitute, please join us in thanking them for all that they do! #larnedpride #lesfamily

Accidents and emergencies happen... that's why it's so important for all of our coaching staff, student athletes, and administrators to have an Emergency Action Plan. Our Athletic Director, Mr. Ettleman made a surprise visit to the LMS volleyball & football practices this afternoon to discuss each team's EAP. It's always best to be prepared, and we are thankful for our coaching staff for being on top of their game. 💪🏼🧡🖤 #larnedpride
