The LHS PTO kicked off World Kindness Week by presenting Upstander Awards! The following students were nominated by their teachers for going above and beyond with acts of kindness: Coutney Craft, Jordunn Haremza, James Garetto (not pictured) and Sergio Holguin. These students have shown and continue to show upstanding actions by speaking out or acting in support of an individual or cause and therefore are making a positive impact at Larned High School. #larnedpride #besttribeever

This past week, we've had the privilege to welcome United States Veterans to lead our morning announcements at Larned Middle School.
Each day brought a new hero:
🗓️ Monday (9/6): Dr. Jon Briel, Captain in the United States Army
🗓️ Tuesday (9/7): Michael Vondracek, Commander of Walter S Chears Post 106, Department of Kansas American Legion
🗓️ Wednesday (9/8): Specialist 4th Class 13 Foxtrot, Roger Strasburg, US Army
🗓️ Thursday (9/9): Sgt. Jacob Robison, USMC
A heartfelt thank you to these veterans for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with us in honor of Veterans Day. And an even bigger thank you to all the veterans who have bravely served our country. #larnedpride #bettertogether

Today, Dr. Ben Proctor, Deputy Commissioner for The Division of Learning Services at the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE), met with the LHS Student Advisory Council. In just their second meeting, the council's insights have the potential to reach far beyond the walls at LHS, extending their influence to the state capitol in Topeka and key figures within the State education department.
During the meeting, students were presented with a series of thought-provoking questions. They discussed the relationship between KSDE and the 286 schools across Kansas, shed light on the crucial role that teachers play in shaping the educational experience of students, and the students' perspectives on State Assessment testing.
Dr. Proctor's mission to engage with stakeholders across the state emphasizes KSDE's commitment to guiding every child in Kansas toward success. The LHS Student Advisory Council is the first group of students to share their experiences directly with Dr. Proctor, making their feedback invaluable.
Today’s meeting proves the true value of amplifying student voices in the ongoing conversation about education here at home and throughout our entire state. Thank you to both Dr. Proctor and the students in our advisory council for your time and insights. #larnedpride #besttribeever #bettertogether
